June 30, 2009

I woke up today at 7 again to be at work by 8. When I got everything opened and started, I was greeted by my bosses with the news that someone, and possibly multiple people, threw themselves in front of a train at the local Subway station, the one that I frequently use.

So that wasn't good news. I thought that my roommates would probably be affected by it because of train delays while they were on their morning commutes. Upon speaking to them later, none of them knew anything about it. That just goes to show you how quickly New York City can clean up a small crisis.

Work was slooooow. It was not busy at all, and I made a total of $18 in tips. Pathetic, especially after yesterday, when I made a booming $60 in tips. I did get to work with a new guy, which was kind of fun. Work has two new girls that they hired while I was gone. One of them I knew before, and one of them I did not. Tomorrow's the staff meeting, so I will officially meet them for the first time at work tomorrow.

After work, I was beat. I came home and watched the news, trying to get the scoop on that Subway story, but to no avail. I watched the sports news, and an episode of the Simpsons that happened to be on. I was going to spend some time writing tonight. I really want to finish the essay I started yesterday, and thought of over a month ago. My fatal flaw is that I have so many concepts for tangible things, I can just never get myself to will them into production.

Instead, I checked email, updated iTunes, and went for a jog. It was a good one in the park, just after it had finished raining. Then I came back and worked out for the first time in a very long time. I had developed a routine that I was sticking to regularly, and today I finally got back into it. That felt good.

After that and shower, it was nearly 10:00 and my roommates were on their way to Adam's show at the UCB. I still had enough time to make it, so I quickly showered, made a reservation, and ran to the Subway to try and get there in time.

I did. I watched the show. I met Mike's ex-girlfriend who he is still very good friends with. I awkwardly stood around while other awkward improve people around me socialized. I wore one of my funny t-shirts but did not get any compliments on it. Weird.

I read more Tom Sawyer on the way to and from the show. I'm on chapter 7 now. And now I'm really tired and am going to bed. Goodnight.
